Upon beginning my first year of teaching, many of my seasoned colleagues advised me that nothing is quite like the first year. And I would never have another one quite like it. With this in mind, I decided to document the emotional, mental and physical impact of that year by using Photo Booth and my laptop. I tried to take at least one photograph a week and capture moments as they happened. While the majority of the portraits were taken in my classroom, some of them were taken at home when I was out sick or preparing for the next day.
